“Some people dream of success, while other people get up every morning and make it happen.”
– Wayne Huzega
No matter who you are or where you come from, chances are you have a dream or goal for your life. Some of these goals are fairly normal, such as purchasing a home or going to college. Some of them are a little more wild, like becoming a best selling author or starting a business.
Even if your dream is the kind that makes others shake their head and start talking about more realistic options, dreams are critical to the progress of our nation. Without big dreams, the Wright Brothers would never have flown, and big companies like Apple and Microsoft never would have started at all.
Make your dreams come to life
If you’ve been secretly fostering a big dream, or perhaps never dared to think of your dreams as a potential reality, making an action plan to turn them into reality can seem a little daunting. Sketching out a plan and establishing goals can help you not only bring your dream closer to reality, but also give you an actionable plan you can work with.
When creating your action plan, it is helpful to be as specific as possible. You know that you want to learn how to code computers, for example, but how can you do that if you are tight on money? With a little creative planning, you can include youtube lessons and the library to help keep costs down as you work on your plan. Just the act of establishing your goals, dreams, and strategies can help you reach them.
Don’t let others tell you no
It’s easy for those who don’t believe in your dreams to tear them down. “Don’t quit your day job,” is a retort often given by those who hear a dream and immediately dismiss it as impossible. If everyone paid attention to these people, there would never be anything new in the world. With the sheer abundance of technology we have today, it is obvious that ignoring these people is the way to go when working on your goals.
Instead of listening to the people who would tell you no, surround yourself with the people who will support you in your dreams. These people may not be able to directly assist you with your efforts, but even a listening ear can be helpful as you brainstorm your way through the creative process.
Expect obstacles
No worthy goal is made completely out of smooth sailing. While some of these obstacles you can predict, such as financial problems or licensing issues, some of the obstacles that get thrown in your path may surprise you. Don’t let obstacles thrown in your path discourage you, they are only stepping stones on the path to obtaining your dream.
Successful people are those who have made goals for themselves and obtained them. If you want to be successful, start putting your dreams into action, and don’t give up even if it seems impossible. You can achieve anything that you set your mind to.
